We are a family run licensed restaurant with 32 seats. Family and friendship, alongside affordable quality food, is at the forefront of our ethos. We have a relaxed environment where everyone is welcome. Behind the door you will be welcomed with a comfortable, chilled atmosphere and a friendly smile from Liz. When you enter The Alder Tree you will find a soft, carpeted floor and walls adorned with artwork for sale, interesting facts to read in the WC, whilst you use sustainable bamboo paper products (something else we are passionate about); and please remember to pop your head in to chat with Ruth, she gets lonely in the kitchen!

The Alder Tree became a reality on the 3rd Dec 2019. After 25+ years  working in the hospitality industry it was a longtime dream of owning my own restaurant and being my own boss. With funds from inheritance we opened the doors with a busy Christmas period. It was short lived when Covid hit, but we have persevered since and I am proud to say we have survived to celebrate our 5th year. This is partly down to a wonderful group of regular customers who, over the years, feel like friends.

We aim to serve high quality homemade dishes and prepare as much as we can in house, with all desserts on offer being made in our kitchen. As well as the main restaurant menu we provide, a weekly offer on Thursday evenings, lunchtime specials and monthly speciality evenings. We pride ourselves in catering for everyone's needs with 90% of our main menu being gluten free, and all our dishes are nut free (as I have an allergy).

Our kitchen ‘catchphrase’ is  “If we have it, you can have it” and on many a time meals have been made bespoke for customer requests.

We also cater for private parties, both sit down and buffet style, where menus have been developed for individual needs.
